Gear lever gaitor replacement

Hi.Do you need to remove the gear knob on a ph 2 clio to fit a replacement gear lever gaitor or will a new one slip over the kob and it is just tightened up with the cable tie? cheers. Will

Gear knob stays on. Cut cable the on old one to remove. Put new one on and pull cable tie up in the right place.
