gearbox change

Hi guys,

I've a 172 I use for autocross and have been offered a back up gearbox from a 1.2l. Can anyone tell me if this fits?
I know it will be softer etc and won't take the punishment as much but is a back up after all.

No it won't.

Technically it will, but it wouldn't meet at the sump, and the gearbox mount brackets are different.
