I just thought i'd let you all know about my mates glanza. He's been a looser and bought a softy CTR. His old car that he's now trying to get rid of is one of the most surprising cars i've ever been in.

This is a Glanza V, for those that don't know, that's a toyota starlet Import with a 1.3 turbo 16v - try it out on the insurance - swinton were cheap cheap cheap.

The car is on the standard turbo, standard internals, F*CK off Front mount (about 5.5in deep). It's far quicker in a straight line than a 182 and it will absolutely ruin a 182 round a roundabout.
Trust me, this will pwn a cup in the twisties.

It's on Tein coilovers ($$$$) with a thicker rear ARB to limit any understeer.
Current owner has been BENT OVER and spent £600!! on a custom janspeed system.
It's also got a equal length stainless tubular exhaust manifold on it, no more cracks.
Turbo timer means you can walk away from a running car (FTK)

Tuning possibilities are hilarious. For the price of ITBs on a 1*2, you'll be pushing MEGA power on a Glanza.

Seriously, Buy it.

Whats insurance like on these? Based on the fact i'm 20years old.

Have to say that looks awesome.

Are company's like Admiral/Bell ok quoting these? As they are my current insurer.

Probably. Honestly, you can get some really surprising quotes for these. My mate was 20, having lost his licence and got it back, all mods declared, £900, year after it was about £500.

What boost/power is it running at? And the comment about handling... I've driven my mates glanza V on coilies which he spent £500 on having the suspension professionally set up and it was very poor in comparison to a fiesta zetec-s!

Clearly, they are not TEIN coilovers (£1k worth iirc), running adjustable top mounts, stiffer rear ARB, plenty of front end chamber and an anti lift kit.

Fiesta zetec-S, Do not make me laugh

Currently at 7PSI (but ready to run 1 bar if you like-14.7psi) and output is around 170bhp and plenty more torque than a 172 as is boosted (y0). Running really well after the rebuild

Was on D2 coilovers which I think are around £700? I'm not that up on my starlets so Im not gonna talk a load of rubbish pretending I know what Im on about. All I know is from experience driving it and from what my mate's experience is the handling is hardly its best point but when it has 260bhp who cares! Maybe Teins are alot better I dont know, cant see it myself though.

It's things like the rear ARB and the chamber where you get the real gains mate. But as you've said they are proper pocket rockets.

Are you sure its 170bhp with those mods?

I had a Glanza with a blitz fmic, hks fcd, hks actuator, Full Blitz exhaust inc decat, apexi electronic boost controller - professionally set up. Running at bang on 1 bar and even that wasnt 170bhp! Dont get me wrong it was quick and the torque was lush but it just kept up with a 172. It was on its tail but could never get past it! They are 130bhp or there abouts in standard form on high boost.

Punto GT tbh - my mate had one and I much prefer that - as far as I know they're a lot easier to get 170 horses out of too?

Fair enough on the punto GT. For me, I went in a standard punto and disliked the chassis so much I now fear them. Couldn't bring myself to go anywhere near a punto GT tbh.

Don't get me wrong, that figure is a touch "finger-in-the-air" (it's not been on the rollers recently), but it's pulling just as well now as it did before rebuild with far far less boost. Either way, it's ready to run a bar.

Relisted now.
