Glove box light

i noticed ive got a space in the top of my glovebox for a glovebox light (same size and shape as the boot light) and think this would be handy to have but ive had a feel about and cant find any wiring for one.

anyone know if my car will defo have the wiring for it (1.2 16v Expression)

also how does the switch work so it knows when the glove box is open or closed?

cheers

There is a push-button type microswitch next to the catch on the underside of the front top edge. Closing the glove box door closes the switch.

If your car wasn't supposed to have a glovebox light, I would have thought they'd have put a blanking panel/plate in where the big gap is. If no-one here knows, ask renault.

When I bought my car I always wondered why it hadn't got the glovebox light

Took it to Reno one day and they said they had taken it out of some models cause there was a problem with it staying "on" while the car was unattended and resulting in battery problems. :S

I hardly use my glovebox anyway so forgot about it after a while

i moded my glove box light to contain 10 10,000mcd white leds

looks pretty good and would probably take a weeek to kill my yellow top

The lower models in the range dont have them, just the hole where it would be. I would think the wiring would be there. Take the glove box out to get a better look.
