Good Evening All - NEWBIE can't sleep

  X-172 Cup
Because I'm picking up my first Clio 172 Cupsport tommorrow - got to get to Crewe Station then down to London then tube then train to Tunbridge Wells to pick up my first fast car!!!! Can't wait - purchased car off E-Bay spoke to sellers brother and it's their 3rd one, she is moving up to the V6 and I have every faith that this car has been cherished as described. A 2003 52 plate with 20k on the clock PDI & 1 Renault service, recent new front tyres, high octane petrol always used + fully synth oil...no mods
HPI is all straight

Anyway I can't sleep and would love to hear any advice on these cars, the car is due it's first MOT @ the end of the month and is under warranty until then, is there anything I should look out for? I know a fair bit about cars and I would describe myself as a 'competent' used car buyer with a mechanical engineering background, but I wondered is there anything on these 172 Cup Sports that I should look out for?? Many thanks in advance & regards & Happy New Year to all :D

hi mate , look out for a noisey exhaust as the baffles collapse on them , mine did at 24k and was replaced under warrenty, also there is a problem with engine mounts too , i think mine where just going when i sold it .

nothing major really with these cars , stick a set of coilovers on them and you have a seriously potent little car , i love them and miss mine too much ,

enjoy

thoroughly test the suspension in bends - doesnt have to be at high speed, do a few three point turns on hills and see how the handbrake and susp creaks

oh and mon the potters

Welcome to the forum

These clios (172s and 182s) aren't brutally quick but are very, very good fun to drive.....I don't thin you'll be dissapointed:D

Welcome and enjoy. Expect some interior rattles because of build quality but generally they're good cars.

Cheers, Rob669
