Not being funny, but, surely you should have learnt this prior to getting hold of one?

Visist DetailingWorld and look at the Guides in the sub-forums..

how can you learn without having something to practice with??

thats like learning to ride a bike without a bike....

anyway, basics are over on detailing world, think there's a beginners guide. give me a min and i'll find you the link.

edit, have a read through some of these,

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=61625

so long as your not going crazy with the PC, you can't really go wrong.

good luck an get some pics of your car up when your done!! ;)

Good point "the_prophet", but, I meant "learnt" as in, learnt "what i need to know to start PC'ing, what i should be doing"

^referring to the OP.

Ta for posting lin anyway; saved me a job. ;)

As silly as it sounds, go down to a breakers/scrap yard and see if you can pick up a dirt cheap car panel.
Practice on that. May sound silly, but at least you can practice worry free.

Good idea on the panel. Also, if you know anyone local who can do it, get them to supervise for a little while?

Wont it be a pain in the arse trying to practise on a "panel" off the car as it'll be flopping around everywhere..

Pah, Get a selection of pads and polishes. If you go on I4D or something and check out one of the starter packs, and then copy the polish/pads. I used to have menzs pads but I find sonus ones last longer.

thanks for the advice guys and girls, will take a look at the links, have a few local friends with them so may speak to them and see about double teaming a car...

with regards to knowing before i got it....i didn't expect to get it so therefore couldn't know before hand

f**k practising on a scrap panel. DA's are relatively fool proof!

I'd reccomend getting a couple of polishing pads, and Menzerna 203s or Meguairs 205, both of which are quite flexible and allow you to vary how much you cut.

Lime Prime is a product worth having too.
