Green gear change light Fault?

Ive searched the forums but still not sure what the deal is, the little gear looking light on the dash ha been coming on alot recently and im not sure if it is a fault, or normal. it still comes on after ive been driving for while and the engine has had time to warm up.
Can anyone shine a lot on this

Does it come on at roughly 7k?

As above if it comes on at 7k revs - then its telling you to change gear.

It comes on at about 2k, thats why im thinking there is a problem!

yeh shouldnt come on that early. Been discussed loads about the light, some saying its telling you to change gear, others saying its a "Stop ragging me or ill blow up" light.

Any problems in running etc?

Well im hoping its not going to blow up but im not really ragging it, just motorway miles never really above 5k revs at the moment, just hoping its not the gearbox going! Could it be faulty?
