Hard drive question

  Peddled device
I may be able to get a pc from work but as it contains data for invoicing etc they would remove the hard drive before l can have it.So my questions are these..

1.Is a new hard drive easy to fit ?
2.How much to spend/what to go for ?
3.Is it fairly easy for a non-tech guy to install basic software to enable Google/music/mpegs etc to be run ?

I can find out what hard drive came out and l think it was running Windows Vista.

Cheers

1. Yes
2. Depends on connection (IDE or SATA), but you could spend £30 or £100 depending on capacity.
3. If it comes with no HDD, you'll need all software including an operating system. So you'll need to install everything from scratch - easy for a none-tech guy? Probably not that easy.. but doable.

Once you buy a retail copy of Windows for example, you would probably be better off getting a new PC with it preloaded ;)

At least then you have no hassle of installing it yourself.. Heh.. and the PC will be new.

When you get a brand new PC, don't you format it and reinstall the OS? I find the way they are preloaded a bit annoying, in respects to how it's configured and all the extras you have to remove after.

Maybe I am just a penis for this kind of thing.
