Head unit

Does anybody have or know if i can get a head unit for my Mk1 172 that works with the steering controler, CD changer and upper dash display. I think the changer is an Alpine so that may be the obvious manufacturer to go for or is there some kind of adapter to make other makes work?

Yeah Alpine, Pioneer and Sony work with the display and contoller but mothing else works with the standard changer, not even Alpine!

Sorry, they work with the contoller though. Never bothered to get one for mine just assumed it would!

Cheers guys, another thought was running an amp with the standard stuff but there is no preout on the head unit, is there a way round this?

you can take the speaker outputs from the standard headunit and feed them to the amp, but instead of connecting them to the phono inputs of an amp, you feed them to the high level inputs.
