Help backing up DVDs please.

Basically I have a hard drive and I am looking to back up my DVDs so I can also use them via a WD media player.

I have just tried using DVD shrink and it converts it all to vob. Files which my laptop won't reconise or play.

I am not very techy so I don't have a clue what I need to do, I would ideally like them to be mpeg4 if possible.

Doesn't the WDTV play Iso images?? If so, use either PowerISO or ImTOO DVD ripper to rip to MP4's. ISO's keep the DVD in tack meaning you can navigate as if the DVD were in a drive

Ahhh ok, tbh I never tried it through the WDTV so might give that a go, will it reconise it as a DVD then? No need to convert? Just select the file in the drop down menu on WDTV?

I know, other thread I think was in wrong section.

But yeh DVD shrink can rip an iso and that has worked.
