Help, Dying Willy!

got about 100yds and she cut out. Eventually got it started again but sounded as if running on 3 cylinders, cut out again and once restarted sounded better but with a distinct and reasonably loud tapping sound running in time with the engine. Anyone know what this might be ?

First symptoms sound like bad ignition wires. They do tend to lose their insulation after a while. Youll notice it first on damp days or early mornings when there is condensation on them. Mine had that problem and wires and a distributor cap sorted it out.

The rapping doesnt sound good though...try and locate exactly where it is coming from. Until you locate the source, there is no way of telling what it is.
