How do I open my car key

  Audi S3 225

My battery has gone flat and I have been trying for ages now to open it up, but it aint budging. I have been trying so f**king hard to get it open pushing the bottom part the way the arrows say, but it dont work.

Has any one else got theirs open, if so how did you go about it, and what size battery does it take?

Thx, Jonesy

if its the new type of key with the little led in the fob and the arrow on the back near where the keyring goes through they are stiff as f**k, just keep trying to slide it the way it shows and the top half will eventually slide off the other half that has the key shank attached to it

if its mk11 if mk111 then you have to put screw driver through the hole where it attaches to the key ring, then lift the screw driver directly up to a 45 degree angle and it will slide to bit one way and the other the other way. took me ages to work it out

Cheers guys got it open in the end not too hard, didnt realise the whole bottom part comes apart thought it was just the part with the arrow.

Anyway im truely f**ked now, for some reason after replacing the battery and putting it back togther it doesnt work at all. I havent even got the little click when you press the button down, it just presses down and feels proper broke! I think I might have broke it when i was trying to put it back together, plus the red light still dont work.

How much are these to get replaced from reno, have to go down on Monday morning. :(

Also im a bit confused when using the key in the door, if i wanna open it i turn it right i think? and it will only open my drivers door. then when i wanna lock it i turn it left i think?, and it will lock my door but open the boot and passengers side door!!!!! WTF is it just me truning the key the wrong way! its well embarisng checking every door and boot every time i get out my car!

lol, must admit ive never opened mine with the key so not sure which ways the barells rotate, i expect the key will be about £60 + from renault, they should keep them in stock i think as they are uncoded and they just swap the metal key shank over then code it

Its all good now, I didnt go to reno, in the end I fixed the key myself. What had happened is a little button type switch thing that makes the clicking niose when you press the key to open your car, had came away from the chip. I thought something was wrong as there was a rattle inside the key????!!

Thats why there was no click when I tried pressing the button. Anyway after getting the chip out of the half side of the key, i decided to super glue the button to the chip, becuase I havent got a solderer. it was ok I didnt superglue the connections just the plastic part of the button in the middle and made sure both connections where touching on the chip!

And its works yeppee, saved me a few quid, PROPER BO!
