How to clay..

Is this correct? Going to go for a mass clean this half term. Wash car, get clay bar. Using car shampoo (or soap of somekind?) Squirt the soap then run the clay bar along, so lubing before the clay, fold clay when dirty etc. Then wash car. Then polish etc.. Is that correct? what kind of lube can i just use soap or should i get something else?

Mix up some car shampoo and water in a spray bottle or use some quick detailing spray.

Spray plenty of either on the panel and gently glide the clay along it.
