HP Pavilion Laptop

Hi who has one of these? I have one and when it boots up it beeps 3 times and nothing is displayed. I believe it is the graphics card. Who has had this problem? If so did HP repair it under warrenty, I think mine has run out. I bought it last December from someone on here who bought it in Feb 2007. Thanks Lee.

prob on board gfx so your looking at motherboard, hp being hp it wont be cheap, and although it pains me to say it, pcw do an all in (parts and labour) repair for 220 quid, depends how much its worth i suppose

Could be the memory, have you tried taking it out and putting it in again?

If you can, hook it up to an external monitor, if it does the same through the monitor, then it is the grahpics card.

If it doesnt then it is your screen ribbon or your screen panel

Also install everest home edition, and post a few details and temperatures for me if possible

errmm connecting to external dislay will prove nothing, not going to be the lcd panel or the screen ribbon/inverter, as its giving post error beeps, try the memory though. As its not posting no os will load and nor will it boot from any discs.

Probably memory - if it's two sticks take one out, leave one in the first slot, and swap for the other one if that doesn't fix it.

Didnt read about the beeps, if the memory is faulty it will be good because it is a cheap fix

I have been in contact with HP and they say it is the video card which is conected to the mother board. They laptop is out of warrenty but there card is due to them having some issues with them.
Im going to ring them tommorow and discuss how to get it fixed.

They have finaly picked up the laptop for repair. It will be 7-10 working days.

I have the same problem with mine, i hooked it up to another moniter and it still didn't work, it just kept re staring its self until i took the battery out.
Do you think if i tried putting a different graphics card in it might work?
