Ice problems

  Impreza WRX
hi guys, just a little problem

im running 2 amps, 1 15'' sub and 6 speakers.
when i turn it up about half way my amp that powers my sub switches off
as soon as i turn the stereo off, and straight back on, the amps back on??!!
sorry for been confusing.
ive checkedd all my cabling, seems sound

As above, sounds like overheating. It will be turning itself off to avoid any damage. Try using a smaller good quality sub and you will probably not notice any difference unless you want a load of bass

First question is why?

And do both amps turn off? are they both using the same earth? Sounds like a earthing issue to me . . .

Could be a bad earth, 6 speakers is far too many ina clio anyway, BUT

What size power cable are you running?

hi guys, only the sub amp switches off, the speaker amp stays on constantly.

I thought it could be overheating, so how could i solve this? it never used to do it!!

What's the Ohms you're running the amp at? (i.e. what's the sub showing it?)

If you're running it too low (such as 2ohm when it's only rated for 4ohm) it may be going into protection.

Ok, ohms is a unit of resistance. You must match the sub's ohms to the amps ohms. Ie 2 ohms sub + 2 ohms amp, or 4 ohms sub and 4 ohms amp.

^ thats for the sub and amp^

The fact your running off 6 speakers, if the amp is not a 3 x 2 channel amp then you will endoubtable be runnign the incorrect ohms off this one. If you wired 3 sets into 1 connector in parrallel, ie set 1 set 2 and set 3 all into the same connectro then that will respectivly decrease the amperage. If you wired out of one speaker into the other then this will add the ohmages ( well as simply as it is put).

If you have got a 3 channel amp then check that the ohms on this amp matches that on the speakers to each one.

sounds like to me the amp is going into protection due to the gain not being set right and the amp is clipping.

don't get a power cap as they are just extra load on the electrical system in the car
