I'm going to be a cleaning g33k!!

My car needs a bit off attention, as it hasn't had a proper clean for a while, and due to road works is covered in tar again. And as my brother has enough room in his unit now it's time.

I'm going to buy;

Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover
Autoglym Engine and Machine Cleaner - for arches and back of wheels
Autoglym Super Resin Polish (if mine is low)
Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection (if mine is low)
Meguiars Deep Crystal Carbauba Wax (although EGP may be enough)
Autoglym Metal Polish

I have car shampoo and tyre dressing.

Where is the best place to buy it? Will be £44.44 from Halfords.

Sounds good mate, although I'd recommend getting a quick-clay kit as well. Tar remover followed up by a claying all over should get that paintwork silky smooth!

I'm too scared to clay it. I WILL f**k it up.

Trust me on that lol. On my old Zetec-S I fucked the paint with scratch-x and it needed pc'ing, and that didn't remove it all.

  182 has now gone!
I cleaned my car the other day with super resin and extra gloss and it came up lovely and shiney, my paintwork is titanium silver..

Wouldnt bother on silver personally. Just realised you already had EGP in your list. You will be able to pick up something else from AG for free in halfords due to the 3for2

Carnuba wax will improve the gloss, but IMO doesn't really make silver look any 'nicer', just different. I've found EGP to help bring the flake out, whereas wax mutes the flake but makes it nice and glossy.

I've not bothered replacing my P21 since that ran out and will just stick to layering EGP for the time being.

claying is really easy.......just do it, it will be worth it in the long run

if your gonna do it, do it properly:approve:

Aye, claying is very easy and I don't think the Megs clay is very abrasive.

I just wash a panel and then re-wash with clay. It keeps everything soaking wet and avoids marring. Definitely worth doing, especially on silver IMO, as every little spot looks so obvious once the rest of the paint is clean.

The cup needs a serious bout of clay! Think it was sat under a tree for most of it's life... lots of tiny sap and tar spots that'll need a blast of tfr, then clay to get rid of any remaining bits.

Tbh, the paint feels quite smooth apart from the tar.

I may do it, but it's going to take me a good day to do what I had planned anyway lol, and I'm not a real clean g33k, so I will get bored very quickly lol.
