immobiliser problems

clio sport 1998 immobiliser problem
hi I need help! I have a Renault clio 1.4 sport 1998. it hasn't been driven for the best part of 9 months, I went to it yesterday armed with a new fully working battery with the aim to get it going. unfortunately everything worked, to a point, as when I started the car it fired up ran for no more than 2 seconds and then cut out. this is how it used to respond to the immobiliser before, if you tried to start it when you first got in.then you'd have to press button and wait for 10 seconds before you could start the car. I believe this is an immobiliser problem as now there is no response from the key at all. the key works fine, opens central locking, batteries in key are new, its the only key I have, but when pressing for the immobiliser there is no response. does anyone have any idea how this can be resolved 'cos I need the car up and running by next Wednesday?
