In-Car Phone Kit!

Ok, lets not have a re-run of the last one..

I want to get a proper in-car phone kit.. what with the new laws coming in and the standard phone kit i have is messy with all the wires.

I want an integrated one so it makes stereo quiet etc.. and bluetooth - preferably which works with any bluetooth phone (although, Ill probably have a Sony or Nokia!) - I know they didnt used to when they first came out.

Anyone got any ideas as the best one to get? And cost!

I want it to work with my Pioneer Stereo, be fully integrated and Bluetooth - I like the idea of sitting in the car with my phone and thats it.. if the phone rings, stereo goes quiet and I can just speak after answering, heh.

Thanks,

Daz.

As i said you cant go wrong with oe kits

What phone matey

(you understand that bluetooth kits need a similar amount of hard wireing too, and youll need to get a phone charger and some kind of holder)

Basically you have 3 choices

Ummmm... You must be such a good road user, I bet you dont eat, drink, smoke or partake in other action which contravenes the laws of the public highways...

I say b****cks to it!

Why do I need holder? I was under the impression I could just bung the phone in the car and thats it! like, even keep it in my pocket!

Phones, itll probably be either a 6600 when it comes out or a T610.. or any other Nokia with bluetooth..

Charge wise, Ill have an incar charger so I can just plug that in.

I aint bothered about hard wiring - my car has enough of aftermarket wires in anyway, I just want it ideally all hidden apat from stuff like a button to answer and mic. (i think thats what ya have)

What I dont want is, Getting a bluetooth kit for ONLY Nokia and then not being able to have any other phone.. I want a universal one which works with anything.

Well ok, the holder isnt relevant.

The nokia one is partialy universal. i would rule that out

So are there any ones youd recommend which work with both Sony and Nokia?

They are the main two Id consider getting - Sadly, Samsung dont do Bluetooth.

Any ideas of cost of one? Ive looked loads, but dont wanna get one which is crap! Gotta be good as itll be hardwired in and need to last and be used!

Never had any experience with the moto kit.

Could be moto only

Ok, the question!

Tom, which would YOU go for - if you wanted it to work with any Nokia Bluetooth phone or Sony.. and have it fully integrated! Small mic and a button visible is all I need.. and itll look neat!

So, which one?

Sonyericsson

Great kit, fully 1.1 compliaint no bullsh*t gimmicks.

the parrot system, is full of gimmicks and totaly voice controled could become troublesome.

It has a speaker.. so that means it wont integrate right?

I want it integrated with my stereo.

You talk to it and ask it.

its listening for you

so you say "magic word" beep "tom" beep "mobile"- makes call

then you press end

to answer you say "answer" or busys "busy" redial "redial" etc

Ah I get ya - so the Parott one you talk to it ALL the time, with the Sony you can press a button.. then speak..

Hmm, well speaking is kinda cool.. heh, but I bet its a pain when ya cant get it to answer the damn phone.

Any others? Like the Sony but not needed ad-ons?

I have a full install of a Sony Ericsson blue tooth hands free - through the radio speakers etc. There are a couple of things with it - firstly the microphone is not wonderful, and people at the other end have a problem sometimes hearing me (hard to believe I know!!!) the other is that it does not hold the bluetooth connection brilliantly, and only works sometimes. If you press the wrong button it just stops working altogether!!

you should be able to do it without a holder at all, but in order to be within the law you will need automatic answering and voice activation to make the calls

when it works properly it is dam fine, but it is a little temperamental!!

You need the goose neck mic kathy i have it its much better.

as for the paring issue the firmware on the box has been updated since you got it. If you know of a local se service point they can flash the box for you for free.

Hehe, Looks like Ill be going for the Parrot one.. it comes with fully voice activated AND a button, so is best of both worlds.

Thanks Tom..
