Injector circuit on Cylinder 1

  182 Trophy
Started the car up this morning and it was running very rough. The engine management light was flashing, and the car was misfiring constantly.

I left it an hour or so and headed off to a friends garage to read the codes - by this time the misfire seems to have all but gone, but the fault code indicated a problem with the injector circuit on cyl1.

It seems to run ok now, but is a bit rough on idle.

On the way home, I stopped at a shop and upon starting it again, the EML started flashing again. Stopping and starting the car cured it, but after a few seconds it came back again. Once again I stopped and started the car but this time I drove off straight away and it stayed off.

I guess the fault code is fairly obvious, but is there a common issue? Should I really just be looking at the wiring, or is the injector a possibility, too?

Also, are there any other cars that have injectors common with the 182?

Just been out there with a multimeter.

There is no short circuit on the loom.

The injector is reading 0.01-0.02 between all injectors (I only have a crappy multimeter that goes to 20k).

I guess the only real way is to swap the injector for another cylinder and see if the fault code changes?

Sounds like a good idea.....also maybe worth pulling out the spark plugs and having a look at the tips to see how the cylinders are running......

Multimeter won't help as the pulse on the injectors is far to fast. Pull the rail off with the injectors in and crank it over and you'll see which isn't firing properly.

The point was to check for a short.

Out of curiosity is cylinder 1 on the cambelt side on the clio?

Sorry I thought you was checking resistance and voltage.

Number 1 is flywheel side I believe.

That would make sense - when visually inspecting the injector, where there are little recesses there appeared to be some molten metal or something. I'm guessing it's been getting hot?
