installing a boot install

  Motorbikes
My mate has offered me the 2x12" speakers and amp from his car, think they are made by Vibe for 150 bucks.. Currently I only have a Panasonic head unit and all the standard speakers in my 1.2 clio. As i've never installed a boot install before, what do i need/need to do to implement this. Will i need a bigger battery to power more powerful speakers? how complicated is it to wire up etc?

cheers
steven

If he's not supplying them, you need speaker wire to carry the signal from the amp to the subs. You need phono leads to carry the signal from your HU yo the amp, and you need power cable to go from the battery to the amp. It's not hard to install at all, prolly take you an afternoon. Remember to run the speaker wire and power cables down opposite sides of the car or you'll get interference. Your battery will be fine, you're likely to suffer dimming of headlights while engine is at idle if you REALLY crank it up.

You shouldnt need a bigger battery. You will need an amplifer to run the 2 subs, i would go for a monoblock amp and just run it to both the subs. Your headunit should have at least one pre-out, so this will be used to connect the amp.
Your battery might struggle if you crank your volume up, so i would think about a power cap to give extra power to the amp when needed.

Hope this helps.

oh, and some decent rca's and power cable too :)

In that case I'd go for it. If you're getting a good price it's worth a few hours work.
