does any 1 know if insuring a write of is cheaper than insuring a non written of car . i have tried a quote on a few clio sports , on a cat d clio sport 172 cup it was cheaper than a normal sport 172. and in general cups seem to be cheaper for me to insure this sounds wierd with it being the sportier model .

if you can afford it i wouldn't touch a written off car even a CAT D TBH!

the value of the cups are less, so this maybe the factor on insurance being cheaper...would have thought that the insurance costs will the same regardless if it is written off or not because you are just a likely to crash either one!

Cups were cheaper for me too.

Cat D doesn't come into the cost of insurance though. It will just be the lowered value you enter yourself that lowers the premium.

i dont think cat d's are that bad. got a quote for £1240 on a normal clio sport 172 cup. which to say i am 19 no yrs no claims . and a corsa 1.4 sport is 1500 ? a few people have said they are not classed as being a boy racer car so that will make it cheaper than corsa's 306's etc .
