Internet help please!

I have always used Norton, but a couple of my programmes seem to be running very slow and someone suggested it might be because of Norton!

The other day I asked about firewall, virus thingys etc and someone suggested getting rid of Norton and downloading AVG, which I have done... and ever since then, my internet keeps logging itself off then back on again at least once every 5/6 minutes and it's flipping well annoying!

Can an expert please suggest what I can do, other than contact AOL help, which I have done and they seem to think AVG is the problem. Up until changing from Norton I had no problems at all with the internet!

A new problem just discovered is that I have several new emails sitting there that I can't open to read!!! FLIPPING COMPUTERS DO MY HEAD IN AT TIMES!

are you connected directly to the internet via cable? are you over a router? wireless?

try uninstalling avg, see if that helps, it wont hurt as long as you keep windows firewall up and active.

I don't see how AVG would affect your Internet connection tbh. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Norton has completely ballsed up your system whilst uninstalling.

So you had Norton AND AOL? That's a bad combination lol.

It seems to be OK at the moment as it's lasted longer than normal before going off!

It was perfectly OK (apart from a couple of slow programmes) for about two years. I've taken off an Nvidia firewall for now to see if it's that!!
It's gone off again three times while I've been trying to post this message so I've got no idea what is wrong!! It never happened until I downloaded AVG
