In this country 172s got 15x7 wheels with an offset of 48.5 mm. That's OK with the 195/50 tyres they come with. But I understand that the offset had to be reduced to 45 mm for the 205 tyres that come on the 16x7 wheels the 182s have so that the wider tyres clear the suspension.

So the answer to your question depends on the tyre size you're running. If you're running 205s you may well find that an offset of 49 mm results in the tyres fouling the suspension.
