IT Professionals, Whats in your tool kit?

  Fiesta ST
just wondered what you have in your tool kit, hardware wise and software?

What are the must have programmes for diagnostics?

  Rav4
Diagnostics to what?

Pretty much all MS software we have here. Also have a data centre which is good for learning and breaking things.

Just shows how much uni DID not teach you once you get a job!!!

  Better than yours. C*nt.
I've got:

A £2 PC World toolkit off their bargain shelf, with all the torx bits that Compaq and HP like to annoy us with.

Win XP MVL disk
Dell WinXP and 2000 disks
Win 2000 Pro, Server and AS.
Citrix Metaframe 4 installation disks
Command and Conquer First Decade
PC Check CD

USB FDD
USB printer cable (I'm a contractor, I'm not allowed to go on their network!)
Stack of blank mini-DVDs
USB 2.5" HDD with 80Gb disk in
USB 3.5" HDD enclosure
Laptop (SZ2 Vaio)
Cleaning kit including air duster
Lots of ibuprofen
Ear plugs (ever go in a server room?!)
Cat5 crimpers, and a couple of Cat5 cables ranging from 0.5m and 1m patch cables to one 4m cable for me.

  Dirty E91
You need ear plugs to go in your server room?

I love having a usb external HD, and having a 2.5" HD caddy is great too, incase a users laptop goes belly up.

winternals dvd is usefull when trying to remove admin passwords

High Five to Winternals

Not a lot really. I grab what I need from the Workshp before I go or from my disks etc. Usually forget something

There's nearly 200 servers in there, and 50 switches. It makes enough racket that if you open the floor box at the other end of the building, you can hear the whine of the fans.

f**k all, who needs a toolkit?? :)

A screwdriver is about all I've ever used, maybe the funny allen key things some compaqs had to undo their blanking plates.

Use a WinPE install disc when we get new hardware in to create a new image.

Have used ERD commander (or nerd commando as we like to call it) on the odd occasion.
