KTEC CAMSHAFT KITS......

Hi

Im looking at doing some engine mods on my valver but im not sure where to start. Iv been looking at the KTR CAMSHAFT KITS WITH POWER CHIP mod which is avaliable at K-TEC. Has anybody had this fitted to a valver? Does it give could power gains for the price?

Cheers

I got my camshafts from K-tec but have stg 2 hillpower chip instead.

Theyre just piper cams if i remember correctly so you could get those anywhere and the chip is mapped for them so no worries there. One thing i will say is beware of hidden costs! If youre getting cams fitted, you will need vernier pullies to time the correctly as well (extra 170quid) and depending on the state of youre engine it may be advisable to have new followers installed (an extra 250quid). A PBV may come in handy as well.....

Can you give some info on your car? eg mileage, other mods etc...??

cheers, its M plate 1995 with 75K, iv got Janspeed S1 system from CAT back and lowered on -35 Pi springs and torsion bar matched. Everything else is still standard. You happy with the work done on ur valver does it drive much better?

Right, youll probably get away without new followers unless it make a really tappety sound for a while on startup (old ones take longer to pressurise will oil hence the noise). Mine was on 130k so in my case i had to....

I can say im pretty happy with the result but the extra power is only really apparent at higher revs (complimented by the increase rev limit from the chip) so you may think otherwise about doing it if youre a more relaxed driver! Dont get me wrong, its a good investment if youre going to be going further with the 1.8 block but going by your mods theres cheaper alternative in the meantime - for example chip and de-cat. IMO youll probably notice a bigger difference from these and itll be cheaper....

Hope this helps.....
