Lack of acceleration

Was driving home today and noticed that my car wasn't accelerating very well at all.
It's making a kind of sucking noise when i accelerate and when i take my foot off of the
accelerator i can hear a kind of rattle. It's also used a lot of fuel than i would have expected.

Anyone got any ideas

?

The car is a m2 ph1 1.6 8v RXE, by the way.

lol i have this problem on my 1.2 16V i put my foot down and all i hear is sucking from the engine bay...
