Turbos.
Took a trip to Moneypit HQ to see how the cars were doing today. Me and the old man are doing the GT Cup opposed to Britcar this season. They are shorter races and so should suit the NSX which is still under development...
Currently we are racing the 3.0 car, so we needed a spare engine. Fortunately found an engine from a crashed NSX through our network. Arrived this morning...
Meanwhile, the main engine was out with it's cradle and rear suspension so the gearbox casing can be fitted.
The hole it left...
The interior was pretty bare, paddleshift is being attached to the steering wheel and the dash is being remodelled. Of course the gearstick has been removed as we won't need it. What do the Japanese symbols mean?!
General clean up is being made to the car. Currently we're getting moulds of the front wings done so battle damage is easy to sort! Perspex screen/windows are being fitted with sequential in on Friday.
The other NSX is still gathering dust...
And with it brand new parts sitting around which are now a couple of years old, like this nice Taitec exhaust! :dapprove:
Meanwhile, the Elise was sitting next door with historic company. It's still 'as is' from it's last race and is looking a little worse for wear. It will be prepared as a back-up car but won't get any significant work done for a while.
Finally, another customer of the race team's brought along his knackered NSX. He is prepping it for sale but we might be taking it off him. The big end bearings are gone, but we would change this all anyway as part of a rebuild. Strangely, it is identical to the now matt black car being a '95 coupe in Charlotte Green. Putting an offer of £8k in and seeing if he will bite...
I also think i've found an Elise to replace the recently sold Mini. Fittingly, it's the same colour (Azure Blue) as dad's Motorsport Elise. Will have a look next week.
Can't wait to get back on track
