If they did go bankrupt, would it really have much of an impact? Looking at the list of games that use their engine:

Nothing of real worth apart from their own showcase Crysis games. Whats the point in making an amazing engine if you dont price it competitively to get it into the market place?

Purely from a games point-of-view, it arguably wouldn't make a massive difference (although the Crysis series obviously has done well). But it would be a shame to see such a nicely crafted engine / technology abandoned. Sadly the technology doesn't bring the money in. It's the retail sales of the games and licensing of the tech where money is to be made (and, yes, that doesn't appear to be going so well).

Despite deals with the likes of the US Army (to use CryEngine for mission planning training and wargaming, etc.), movie studios (CryEngine also supports movie creation support and enhancements) and businesses (such as architects and other visualisation driven businesses outside of gaming) this wouldn't sustain their business. Maybe revising their subscription and licensing models will help... if it's not too late. As said though, it's rumour / speculation at the moment.
