Linux Media Player

Right, I've set up Ubuntu and got it how I like it. Got all the apps I want on it and set up wine, opera, plugins etc

The only thing is that I cant seem to find a decent media player. I've been using windows media player (runs and hides) on windows but what is good in linux?

I'm currently running 'banshee' but it seems slow and abit s**t.

Any ideas?

Doesn't Ubuntu come with Totem as one of its packages? That'd do the job for you I think?

if by media player you mean videos aswell then xine or vlc are very good. If your playing MP3's then ye amarok is quite good.. for a simple mp3 player you can use xmms.

yup, I was after a mp3 player with a good media library. I've popped on Amarok and will give it a try when I get home from work.
