locks with key remote but wont unlock or switch off alarm?

need some help for a connie from work, he's got a stripped out turbo'd 172. His car locks with the key remote, but wont unlock or switch off his alarm. Any ideas? Just now he has to unlock with the door lock then start it up to stop the alarm sounding.

Any help would be great the guys working far from home, and far from any decent Renault Mechanics.
