182, is that a Cup spoiler? THINK it's got Cup suspension pack on it, no splitter though.

Good history etc, however advertised as spares repairs. Spark plug on one of the cylinders had been mashed by a valve shaped thing. Could get a boroscope down there the guy said that it's fine.

Advertised for 995.

What would your thoughts be?

Looks like head off no matter what, just whether the head is mashed or not and even the block. Got all the tools and I want it for myself. Will be putting an offer in and not paying 995.

Cheers.

Wouldn't be paying anywhere near £1k for that given whats been sold lately for around £1000.

Front end respray?

Bumper I think.

What sort of price would you be thinking?

I'd be kicking him in the b****cks but I'll be offering nearer 5 tbh.

The fault sheet I found in the book (not advertised) what do we think all that is?

  Many.
Old faults, and not a lot tbh, Lambda is very common, could be sensor, could be cat, could be decatted. Foglight is earth on rear lights, very very common. ABS light is more than likely a sensor or cracked ABS ring.

£6/700 IMO.

PS, Full fat 182, both cup packs.

OK cool thanks! He said he's not hiding anything so use whatever diagnostic tool I want.

I didn't scramble about much, was in a suit as can be seen on a reflection in one of the pics.

Tyres all have very good tread (Michellins) but rears cracking round tread blocks.

Got a feeling it will be either the misfire causing the O2 fault OR quite possibly decatted. Awesome on the foglight and the ABS rings I've had a fair share of issues with, believe it or not I normally just clean up the shafts, clean the rings up then weld them back together. Never had any issues, just saves time faffing about trying to source one or a new shaft etc.

It's one of those things, it is screaming at me to buy it but I need to seriously think and have a good look. Looked in good condition other than the blemishes and s**t job on the front bumper but I can respray that myself or prep it at least and get my old work place to spray it for me.

Also just upgraded to Club membership so I really must get a proper Clio now, the 1.4 Dynamique did me well and handled awesome but I think the proper Clio may be just a tad next level!

You look dressed to interview at a bank or to own a jag and an apartment that smells of rich mahogany and inside are many leather bound books.

'choo doin' lookin' at a girl's car?!

The engine is a bit of a cost, but worst case you can pickup another engine cheap enough. Its probs dropped a valve if the spark plug is damaged, Its not often they bend that far to mash the spark plug, but might do I suppose!

Factor in cambelt kit, Dephaser, aux belt kit and service items. Circa £350/400 for the bits, or in a specliast at circa £550/600.

Where abouts are you?

I'm in Kent matey. Have all the tools for the belts, had plenty of the heads off these TYPE of engines, I'm more VAG inclined so don't know if the 1.4 and 1.6 16v engines are F4R as such.

I'm the sort of person that would rather buy something broken then say end up spending £200 on a port and polished head off eBay I've seen, stick new guides, seals and valves in it then new belts, pump and dephaser etc on it.

Typical example, bought a MK4 Golf TDi for the GF, bought cheap and spent more now on it then a "good one" would have been but I know mine has new OE wheel bearings, belts, bigger brakes, every single suspension bush change etc.

She's having it in April and I know it will be fine for her sort of thing, yes I'd have saved money buying a half decent one but I now have a fully decent one.

I'm just like you, pretty much always bought broken cars, only cars I haven't bought broken, broke!

Do you have all three tools, most importantly the pulley locking tool, as its absoutely needed to loosen the two cam pulleys to get the timing bang on right, which it needs to be. Not to be confused with the end of cam Horse-shoe tool.

The 1.6 engine is very similar to time up, inc dephaser.

Any used car needs work, but its better when its spares/repairs as generally the seller is more honest, and the cars a shedload cheaper anyway.

If you need any help with anything on it, give me a shout, done countless belts on these too.

Cheers mate, I nearly copied your car TBH and bought a DCI Clio but the the Golf came up and in all honesty it's such a comfortable place to be on the motorway!

Have got a HUGE set of Renault tools, including locking tool, the horse shoe and the pins.

Really want this now but have been told I need to remove the other three scrap cars off the drive first lol!

Bought my old RB for a grand, all that needed was belts and a bit of paint.

This is worth £500 - £600 IMO.

Anyone else notice the fog lights are installed the wrong way round?
