Loss of power at full throttle

  Clio 1.2 16v
Hi,

I recently bought a 51 plate Ph2 1.2 Clio. As i bought it from some guy in scotland i had to drive it back to the north east. After 2 hours or so it was fin, untill i put it into 3rd to overtake a lorry on an incline. After putting my foot to the floor the revs died and the orange warning light with the zigzags going though a box came on. After pulling up the car went into 'limp home' mode, basically idling in ever gear and not responding to the accelerator at all. After a few minutes i switched it back on again and drove back home very carefully.

Took it to the garage last week to have its diagnostics checked, ans the guys saids the last stored fault was 'throttle position sensor', but since it had been running fine for 2 weeks he said it was probably due to it been sitting for a week or so, or 'bad petrol'.

Since then its been running fine, until yesterday when i drove it back from hartlepool to leeds. Every time i put my foot to the floor it would go into limp home mode. The only way get it back to normal was to disconnect and then reconnect the battery, which was bit of a pain. Now its back in Leeds, ive tried it again today and its fine, even when foot is on the carpet.

Seems like a fairly intermittent issue, does anyone have anything similar, or have any suggestions?

Nice site btw ^^

cheers

It's not to hard to do. Only about 12 bolts. Just finding the buggers is the hard part. There are 4 on top of enigne, and about 8 or so around the manifold. You will have to take soom of the wireing look off but it is simple. Just take your time and dont drop any screws is the enginee like it did. Takes ages to find them again.
