Magnex twin-round outlet anyone

Must admit Mike - Ive been toying with the idea of one of these myself. IMO the Hayward & Scott Ive seen looks the best but way too pricey - so the twin exit Magnex has been on my hit list for the first mod.

Would be interested if anyone has one fitted.

Im sure there was a picture of a 172 with a twin fitted - it was ages ago probably on the yahoo 172 forum - I remember thinking it looked good at the time. May have to just go for it!

Ah well we didnt get to see a 172 with a twin-round. BUT; we soon will. I ordered one this morning and might just get it fitted in time for Wednesday at Bedford.

Nice one Mike. Hopefully itll be done by Wednesday then so we can what it looks like in the metal.

How much did you pay?

Rich

£330 fitted. Im *really* hoping DT can get it delivered and fitted tomorrow! If not I may have to camp out at Demon Tweeks on Wednesday and get it fitted first thing, before the dash down to Bedford!

Not sure about a de-cat - didnt ask. Id already allowed myself to be persuaded (thanks Nick!) to get the cat-back rather than just the back-box so went over budget. If there is a de-cat Id have probably had that too which may have had a major impact on this months mortgage payment!

Might get one next month tho

What did the insurance co say?? did they want more cash.
Asked about an air filter, didnt say it was a Viper but they want about £50 a year extra!

Does anyone know if Magnex would make a Mk2 172 zorst which doesnt exit under the bumper, but looks factory and exits behind the bumper?

No opinion yet from the insurance Chris, but they (Tesco) werent bothered when I lowered the car and I doubt theyll make a big fuss about this as long as I tell them and provide details of the fitter etc. After all its already group 16 - you can insure a Jag for the same money.

mike, smart exhaust. want one just like that. to make life easier do you know the part no, and are they 3.5" pipes?

Hi Jon, the Demon Tweeks number (which may or may not be the same as the Magnex part number) is MNX XSR05/TR. Yes theyre 3.5 inch pipes.

mike, think DT are a bit confused! I emailed them and asked for a price, their reply was "the magnex will only fit 2000 to april 2001 cars.the only exhaust we list for the phase 2 clio is from remus and costs £260.00 for a back box"

I know you got yours from them so will get on phone to them!

thanks for your help, nice motor BTW

The bloke who sorted mine is called John Harris. Hes got stuff for me before, he knows what hes on about and hell give you a bit of a discount if you mention youre from Cliosport. Theres a direct dial phone number for him: 01978 663057. Hell probably put you through to one of the tyre / exhaust people.

Anyhow, tell em from me that the exhaust fits a Mk2 a treat - (mine was fitted on the 16th July if they want to check) no rattles or wobbles - it even survived a track day on Wednesday! Good luck! Email me at mmikee@tesco.net if you still get no joy and Ill try to help.
Mike.

Hi Mike, Does your Magnex Exhaust hit the heat shield? If I have rear passangers, the exhaust hits the heat sheild and makes a rattling sound..

Black Clio - no, doesnt hit anything. No rattles with 3 passengers, doesnt even make a sound when slammed (unintentionally) over speed bumps.

If that TicTac shaped tailpipe is the H&S one, Id say leave it, I was following a mystery 172 in traffic the other day and it looked like a cheap bolt on tailpipe trim. Far too flat and wide. Sorry if its anyone lurking on here that Im talking about!

The classic Magnex 6x4 oval is nice as long as it hasnt got that weird blanking plate inside it, but the twin looks different and worth getting Id say. What about getting rid of the spare wheel and going for one 3" slash cut pipe on each side?

Nick, the H&S one is pictured near the top. I think I prefer the less obtrusive look which I think the H&S has, the twin one above is a little loud (not sounding) for me.

Maybe Ill get one that doesnt stick out the back - might pay a visit to hill power and get it lowered too - might speak to insurance co first.
Anyone know what exhaust Arjun had? Cant remember - was that from hillpower?
