Matched Inlets worth it?

  SchwepTek™
Been offered some reasonably cheap and wondered if they are really worth having when my car was RR'd giving 178hp at the fly???

  SchwepTek™
Yeh they are defo from a 182. Still on it at the moment.

What gains would i get though as i thought matchin them only improves them if they are bad. Mine cant be that bad if already putting out 178?

get a small mirror and have a look under your inlet that are on your car at the minute, if there is an rs logo i wouldnt bother, if there isnt one i would prob buy them.

the rs stamped inlets are a little better.

Thanks bud but i've been offered them at less than half that. How much did the polishing cost you then because inlet matching is only £150??

  ITB BG 182
if it was about 200 id have them for the polished ones that are matched aswell, but i think ill send mine off to be matchd for one fifty then get them polished for the forty quid that i was told it would cost.

Ah yeh, cheers Gaz. Just took that photo out and had a look.

Mine does have RS stamped on it so guess i wont bother.

Is that the same as on a 172 cup

dont think the rs inlet manifolds were used until later 182's and trophys

there doesnt seem to be hard and fast rule which 182 had them and which didnt prob just random frenchness but i think all trophys had them. just a chnage in the casting i think during the production run.

i dont think any 172 had the rs on them although im no expert mate.

And i quick question do you need the upper manifold bit with Renault Sport(plenum i think its called) on it as well ?

Or can you use the Rs Lower Manifold bit with a Standard 172 Plenum ?

Or do the 2 have to be off the same car ?

you can mix and match d1cky yeah, when they are getting matched though best to keep them as a pair so they are both the same

  RB 182 cup
can someone please tell me what you mean by matched inlets?

as i can get machining done for free so would like to know what is involved? is there a large lip between the 2 inlets that resticts flow or something and machining the smooth gives you gains?
