Fingers crossed my bandwidth lasts
@Chi asked me to try and bring some life back into his new 6 MPS. I started last week and finished yesterday, 13 hours in total.
Drove up to see Chi's new unit but ended up working in Bloke's unit, cheers
Very dirty mps
Chi wanted everything that could be removed removing; plates, trim, spoiler badges etc. So I could get as much of the car corrected as possible.
Wheels done with hot wheels, agitated and sprayed off
Car foamed with ph neutral Foam
While this was dwelling, the shuts were done with RDS
The car was then washed with auto finesse lather
Hit the whole car with ironx, surprisingly there wasn't much fallout on the bodywork
Then the bodywork was tardis'd, didn't get any pictures as it took ages! So very much tar. Blue roll was saturated to remove the adhesive holding the plates, badges and trim in place. Then the car was reformed, rewashed and clayed. The clay picked up quite a bit of excess detritus. I've never seen clay come off a car orange!
It was given a rinse down and dried. Then taken inside for a look see at what I was dealing with
I settled on autofinesse revitalise #1 polish on the #1 pad
End of day 1
Note the caked exhausts
Day 2
Chi dropped the car off at mine at 20 to 10, had a quick look around it and saw it picked up minimal detritus since last week.
Dull paint and random scratches
And swirls. So many swirls.
Turns out auto finesse revitalise #1 didn't cut as much as I expected
I gave the car a dousing in RDS while I mixed up some lather
It might just be me but this stuff seems to cling longer than citrus power
Sprayed off, washed then dried
Revitalise #1 didn't cut as much again on the bonnet, still, it's much better than it was
Gave it another hit but still wasn't happy
The colour was really coming through though
I decided to try out my new g3 scratch remover, I was very impressed with this, ended up doing the whole car with it.
I genuinely love this colour
The difference between AF Rejuvinate #1and g3 scratch remover
Insert vid
The deeper swirls remain but I think I achieved a decent amount of correction
Got that random hologram out
My amazing £5 DA started to play up so I went to steal Aucky's DA. Was a brilliant idea as mine packed in completely before I got to @Auto Finesse's ultra glaze.
Very nice product, spreads far, smells awesome and comes off brilliantly. Applied via DA all over
Centre of the bonnet glazed. I'm not sure if the pictures picked it up but in person you could really see the difference.
Whole bonnet done
Passenger side done, looking awesome already
After the car was glazed I moved onto Auto finesse's new was, essence.
I'm not sure where this fits in in their roster but it's very oily, more so than spirit, less than illusion. So maybe on par with desire.
It spreads stupidly far but leaves a residue so you can see where you've done. Iirc I had problems seeing desire... But that was on a yellow car so maybe it's the colour?
Smells nice too, much like the other AF waxes.
Applied via DA on a soft finishing pad.
The phone camera didn't seem to pick up the wax hazing
Did the whole car before buffing off, it came off very easily with no grabbing at all.
I turned my attention to the door trims which were removed last week
Washed, tar removed, refitted, polished and waxed
All the plastics and glass given an IPA wipe down then dressed with AF Revive and rainX
Tyres done with auto finesse gloss.
I didn't get any befores of here but I suspect a boot strut burst at some point, it was caked in what I only imagine is grease and or faeces.
Saturated with quick detailer and RDS, agitated then saturated again.
The finishing touches
Afters
These were so hard to catch the colour of
Finished at 5:10
Some beading pictures from this morning
thanks for reading this far.
