Mike T's Supercharged Vee

  German Barge
think im thinking of the right car...

if so, anyone got any info, vids, pictures, spec, and approx cost of supercharging a vee....

thanks all,

Chris.

Err its big money best talk to Mike/GDI/Yozzasport/AWT for a better idea but I'd think £9k wouldn't be far off.
440hp at the moment I think lowered CR pistons etc.

  MKIII 138
i have an idea at 9k the option is a pricey one. but you could get a laguna v6 supercharged much cheaper !

How? Its lower power to start with too.

ahh but supercharge add more power than N/A for the price. the laguna v6 is actually pretty damn quick, its only the auto that lets it down, still got 210bhp and with full zorst induction and remap you will gain to 225-230 just like the MKI v6, then add 50bhp for a supercharger and you have 280bhp engine much more than a MKI v6 has and 30hp more than a MKII with alot more torque than a MKII of course you could squeeze 70 hp out of a supercharger and get 300bhp 280lbft of torque ! rapido.

surley you could source a laguna V6 engine for £1500 either from a breakers, or used example there`s a fair few V6 engine`s in other Renaults i.e espace,
if you wanted to be unquie you could get the 3.5v6 from the velsatis.. same engine used in the 350z !

so lets say £1500 for engine and 4.5k to supercharge properly = £5500, or even if the engine is £2000 and the conversion 5.5k still only 7.5K ! so £9000 is way too much to spend when there are options like this.

You're not going to be gaining 15-20bhp from and exhaust and remap on the laguna considering that chipping a clio v6 struggles to get 10bhp. IIRC the inlet system on the laguna is different so you'll need to sort that first (£).

IIRC Mike T's spec is can run the supercharger safely hence the cost but thats his second attempt...i seem to remember the first time a company did it on the cheap and that ended up with a knacked engine.

Bottom line, 5k isn't going to get the results your after and not relaiably. Think about the basic costs involved; last time i checked, lowered CR pistions are going to be the guts of a grand, an EMS to run it about 1k, supercharger a couple of hundred, your exhaust couple of hundred etc etc...may 5k in parts but not including fitting to do it properly.

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,
408 actually! (or 375 with larger charger pulley and cooler inlet temps, better reliability and still rather quick!)

If you do it you need a piston change, a remap, lots of chargecooler and a host of other stuff (clutch, gearbox etc)

Properly done C.£7-9k with remapped standard ECU - if you don't do everything twice.

There ain't much I haven't done so if you're gonna I'd call!!

well i was close mike :)

id be gutted if it didnt get less than 7 mpg as a standard 147gta will return 7 when having fun hehe :)

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,
On a normal days outing its about 18mpg

Larging it it must be 6-8mpg, but thats on track - on the road you'd run out of road!

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,
It's set up on an airfield - near Silverstone - not long now - just a clutch that'll survive more than 5 mins!

Good idea but think of the costs to get a proper powerful engine ie one where you don't have to limit boost massivly to stop detination
ECU + mapping +fitment £2k
Strip down to replace pistons with lower comp one + pistons £1.5k
New injectors £500
Intercooler + piping £1k
Thats already £5k and you've not got much for it.

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,
Thats with out exhaust and headers £1500, coil packs £400, supercharger 12 rib pulley coversion £700, uprated fuel system (pump and injectors) £900, boost related fuel pressure regulator £200, dump valve £200, new air inlet system £300, new engine cover/bulkhead £700, someone above is way behind the real costs involved!!!!!!!!
The biggest saving is hacking the standard ECU which has recently been achieved.
Also - the lagunaEspace lump has lesser con rods than the V6 Clio

how much was you electronic system mike??? or is your wife watching?? lol

anyone reading this thread do a sarch for Motech on google

  Forester Sti, SC Clio V6,
er it was a lot for the Motec stuff!!!!!!!!! Half the project budget which was a real lot!!!
