Mk1 and Mk2 Airboxes

  172 Cup

Is there any difference between the 2 boxes. From a very brief look they seem slightly different. I basically want to know is a replacement element from one would fit the other?? Considering the Green element for £36.

Mk1 and MK2 airboxes are totally different. Mk1 is has a cylinder-shape filter element and a mk2 is a flat panel filter element.

When Halfords(Ripspeed) and Magnex finally manage to deliver and fit my new Magnex 6x4 Oval Exhaust, I would like to try and improve the input air flow.

Does anybody know of a replacement element for the standard filter in the MK1 Airbox?

Ive got the Green Induction kit in my Mk 1. It was there when I bought the car so Ive not known any difference but its the business. Also have a Magnex (again - I think) full s/s system and the combination breathes very easily. Sounds good too.

K&N do a filter that will go in the MK 1 Air Box.

The standard Renault part number is 77 01 030 196. This is also
listed for the 25 V6 model and the Espace 2 V6.
K&N list a filter for the above cars and Renault part number. This is
K&N part number E-9131.

I used to have one and it goes no problems. You will notice a slight induction noise and improvement. Go for the BMC air box for loud induction noise and improvement in pickup.

Both Green and Sparco do replacement filters for the Mk1. Has ANYONE seen anything for the MK2?????????

Thanks for the replies.

My exhaust has finally turned up and should be fitted tomorrow. I wonder how long it will take Halfords (Ripspeed) to get then air filter?

(Sorry Taffy only kidding - Se ya tomorrow)
