Model Confusion???

  Clio 1.2 16v sport
Morning Peps,

Ok my Renault garage has confused the crap out of me.

I've recently purchased a Clio Sport 16v 1.2

I called the garage to enquire about service prices and they asked me if it's a 172 or 182? I said i didn't think it was either and they said it should be on my log book? I've had a look but i cant see what they are talking about?

Any help?

  Black Clio 182
its not a 172 or a 182 as they are 2.0l clios.

what shape are your lights? are they the rounded ones (means its a mk2 ph1) or are they the triangular ones (mk2 ph2), what reg is your car?

It's a 1.2 16v. The sport bit is irrelivent for the service.

They just think you mean a Renault Sport which would be the 172/182 or V6.

Strictly speaking it's not a 'sport'.

They're getting confused with the sport spec on your 1.2 and the Renaultsport Clios which are more often than not referred to as Clio Sports.

  Black Clio 182
so yours is a mk2 ph1 clio 1.2 16v, thats what you tell them, just give them the year of your car to as that might help the geniuses that work at reno lol

I gave them the year and they still got it wrong! Thanks for clearing it up people, bit concerned that I was right and Renault got it wrong? Hmmmm

  Black Clio 182
well if you give them your reg number they can look it up on their computer and they would have all the details there on screen.

It is exactly like the one in the picture but i dont have a S anywhere on the car.

On the log book it says the car is "Clio Sport 16V"

  182 Full Fat
There may be a 16v badge inplace of the S, Im thinking of the ealrier model. Eitherway its a 1.2 16v.
Just tell your garage its a normal 1.2 clio. I'd do a few quotes though, as prices can vary quite a lot!
I just saved £100 on my 12000mile service!

Da

yes do it at Renault, but prices can vary between dealers even if you stick to the Renault network.

this all sounds like the argument me and my mates are having at the mo. in about april my mate got a clio mk2 ph1 year 2000 w reg 1.4 16v Si. now he seems to think tha it is a sport and because it has sport on the back and this little Si badge on the side he thinks it is absolutly rapid. so clios arnt really sports unless they are renaullt sport 2.0l or something like that are they?

I had a 1.6 Si back in 1999, it's was an 8valve engine, which predated the 16v 1.4 engined Si and believe me the car never came with a sport badge fitted as standard on the back of the car, just Si on the bump strips.

  Black/Gold 182
that's an old 2nd hard car dealer trick, stick on a stripe and an "S" and sell it as a sports model.

You should see the sport badge my Mum bought me........ She said "well you've a sport underneath your renault badge, so I bought you one to go under the clio badge" Guess what? I stuck it on my car!
