Monoblock Amp

Im looking at upgrading my sound system, i a lready have a sony xplode headunit and am going to replace all 4 speakers and fit a sub and amp. But what option do you think will be the best, get a 4 channel amp and run the sub and 2 front speakers, or get a monoblock and run the sub only off this and run the 4 speaker of the head unit (4x52watt). Although my headunit can run 2 amps of it id rather just have 1 amp. My budget is about £300.

Wot do ya think of the jbl series?

cheers Dan...

Get a 4 channel. Run the sub and the fronts off that and run the rears off the headunit.

If it was me though, I'd completely forget about the rears and have some decent components up front. It's all you need really.

JBL make excellent amps for the money.

What sub you thinking of buying?

Dont know what sub and amp i want just the local motorworld said they could do me a good deal on the JBL gear, but didnt go in to much detail, TBH i was thinking of getting a 4 channel and running the sub and 2 fronts off it. What are component speakers?

thanks

Components are where the tweeters (for high frequencys) and woofers (for midbass) are seperate and are controlled by a crossover. You get a much higher range in your sound stage than you would with coaxils.

With a good set of components, rear speakers would be void.

I've got Boston Acoustic coaxils in the doors of my car at the moment and I dont miss having rear speakers one bit.

JBL are great for budget gear. Their low end sub range are excellent, amps equally so. Ofcourse it wont be in comparison with stuff twice the price, but you don't expect it to be.
