mopped down...

Ruin customers cars with Rotary...Inducing marring and buffer trails...Is usually the meaning of mopped down!!

My car came out of a bodyshop a couple of months ago, looking worse than when it went in  .

I'm assuming they 'mopped' it after finishing the work, and consequently it now looks like there are large swirl marks all over the paintwork. However, these marks came out after re-applying a wax layer. But having washed the car last week the marks are back again!

Is it polish that hasn't been broken down properly, or are they permanent marks?

Sounds like buffer trails....in which case they are permenant. The wax was probably just filling them hence when you washed it they came back.

:dapprove: So would the only way to remove them would be by PC?

I'm annoyed because it didn't look too bad (for a 4yr old car) before it went in.

Typical bodyshop ! A machine polish is the only way, depending on how bad they are a PC may make a long job of it. Some one with descent Rotary skills should easily fix it.

OK, thanks Rich :).

I'll have to look at getting it pc'd sometime.

But lesson learned! I'll have to remember next time to tell them not to touch the car's paintwork!
