Most Modified?

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
Any idea who, on Cliosport, has the most modifications on their Clio?

I was wondering if it was worth it, so I'd like to see the results. May well be engine mods, or it could be bodykit overload.

If you think you could be that person, or if you think you know which person or car it may be, post up the images, please.

(Just for reference, having 342 stickers on the rear bumper does not count as a running total)

  Turbos.
I think you should set a minimum Neil, because some photo ***** cnut is bound to post their car with different coloured bullets and chrome valve caps.

Think there are a few 1*2's on here with a fair list of mods.

I think the modified engine crew will win. Either way this thread won't end well.

You could easily name off most of them, no-one springs to mind with a bodykit however. All 'performance' related pretty much

That guy with the turbo trophy running 300+ brake?
However I can see this thread turning out to being full of cars with "Modiffykayshunz"

Good point.

No photo ***** cnut's with different coloured bullets and chrome valve caps. That counts as two mods. DWI.

@Dave

Now THAT's how I like to see them! Some NA tuning, but nothing much on the outside to give it away.

Hell, if I had 5k to pour into my 172, it'd look exactly the same, hopefully not sound much different but have a nice healthy chunk of extra top end.

NA = naturally aspirated?
If you doing it this way its all about subtle mods in the looks department and then spend the cash on the noisey, oily bits!

Yep, no boost, just displacement and revs!

By subtle I'd also mean:-
Original 172 wheels
leaving the engine cover on
no "slamming over coilies"
and keep it as quiet as possible, no sounding like a 1.2 wannabe with a Halfrauds discount card

  2.2 bar shed.
LOL, displacement and revs? It's not like it's a stroked out screaming VTEC lump is it.

Was talking with someone yesterday about 2.3 stroker kits for my T. Guy's more of a Need for Speed modder, looked at me funny and said 'thats gonna be huge'. Clio's have niether displacement or revs tbh :/

I'm relatively new to these engines but from what I've been reading forced induction is the only way for large gains in power. However there is something a lot more appealing about a N/A throttle bodied engine in my view anyway.

Well no, but that wasn't really my point.

I was trying to convey the point of NA tuning, not using Dave's vehicle as an example.

But, since we're on the point (which is, indeed, completely off the point), how much can a RS 2.0 engine bore and stroke out to?

  172 track thingy
300bhp :O that seems a lot I wonder what needs to be done as lookin at the thread above says bore won't go any more that 84mm (safely)

  Evo 5 RS
On the budget and level most folk would work to (and this is purely talking about engine mods before the usual bigget w**kers jump in with bloody tuition and uprate suspension), if you're not looking at a competing spec and it's just a bit of fun and N/A screamage: throttle bodies, and some fast road cam with some uprated valve springs and you'll have no-end of fun

300BHP you're talking big bucks

Upgraded block then as well as internals?? Or is the stadard good to take that?

8K would get you a really top notch ITB setup then?? (engine only)

What's the view on the JMS RS2s??

have a read. Matt at TDF has been in the game a fair while, I'd take his word as gospel over most tbh.

300bhp on an engine dyno = £30K.

300bhp with a warranty, tested rebuild interval (which means you destroy another engine validating that rebuild interval), workshop and track side support to install the engine, packaged to fit a specific bay with all carbon and loom work done to a pro-motorsport standard = £100K.

If you want a bare engine at this level with no warranty, no track side support and no packaging assitance then I'm afraid we can't help. If one of our SP or S2000 engines would suffice (240bhp/280bhp respectively) then these are essentialy off the shelf and supplied in a crate ready to fit. 20bhp doesn't sound a lot but when you're going from 140bhp/litre to 150bhp/litre NA it's a hell of step!

That thread was an amazing read :) but 300bhp will prob never be seem by me lol

240bhp keeping the VVT system looks like a good goal to aim for when funds come around and plus Freds like 40 mins from my house :)

  SG9 Forester STi
Mines been tinkered with a fair bit :p but doesn't really belong in here just yet.

If I had my way and the spare cash i'd have forged internals and upped the nitrous to a 100bhp shot and have it direct port through some shiny trumpets ;)

Dreaming though!

My Clio is fairly modified! I think my engine bay is quite different/special, don't think anybodys engine bay looks like mine!

  ITB'd MK1
Beaniemoo, high compression 182 engine in a mk1 on Omex 600, ultra lightweight, 1 off carbon roof, GRP doors bonnet and boot, perspex windows, narrowed dash, Gripper diff, Leda suspension with remote reservoirs.......pretty much anything you can think of has been changed

AndyRG before he sold his mk1 shell, Megane 225 internals in a 172 block

Mine has pretty much nothing but the shell and rear axle left which is RSI.
