MOT question

Morning all

Basically my tax runs out tomorrow so I went online yesterday to sort it.

Its telling me I haven't got a MOT ???

The problem is I brought the car from renault in March and they taxed it on the day I picked it up so how did they get tax ???

I think a call to renault is on the cars

Is the car more than 3 year old? If so, do you have an new style MOT certificate? If you don't you can't use the online service. Otherwise just give the DVLA a call - it must just be an admin error.

Service worked fine when I used it a few weeks ago.

Yeah thats what i'm thinking its a 04 so it might just need the New MOT doing - nice

phoned renault yesterday

I asked them to check when my MOT is due bearing in mind i brought the car in march, they told me the MOT ran out in May - Oh great.

The car is now at the garage - GITS

Shall I get them to pay the MOT charge ??? er YES

To be honest, the dealer did not have to MOT it before you bought it as it wasn't due for 2 months, it is your responsibility!

Yep, if the car is an 04 reg, it will not have been due for it's FIRST MOT until May THIS year. It is NOT the garages responsibility to keep the car until it is due for it's first MOT. Quite honestly YOU should have checked with the garage BEFOE you bought it to find out IF and WHEN an MOT was due. So NO, you can not get the garage to pay for the MOT!
