The radio wont work properly and DVDs are region 1 in the states.

Dont forget you will get stung for import tax, and you wont have any warranty.

So you think its not a good idea to buy from the US.

Nope it may seam like a bargin but it isnt.

Alpine units can have their radio settings changed to function correctly but you still dont get RDS, Traffic, stearing remote, DAB (or DAB compatibility).

Import tax will be 17.5% (basically VAT).

Yeah Zorba walk away Ive done it and it doesnt work:(

Also 17.5% if only it was just 17.5%............you also have to add on handling packing and customs which is dif from vat..............you could be looking at closer to 30% its all itemised in the invoice!!

Thats cos they know it wont work.

i got stung 175 quid from buying a laptop from US, well gutted.

sometimes u dont tho, i bought a bose acoustimass speaker system and there was no charges, think its just certain items

I bought a Sony CDX-M8800 from ebay, the item came from US

i paid the guy £180 for it and it came with a £96 customs charge, the guy had wrote on the package that it was a gift and worth £70, however customs opened it and valued it at £275 thats why the tax was so high. When it came to my door i sent the delivery guy away with the parcel. after weeks of struggling and witing for the parcel to arrive back in the US the guy refunded me with £150.

AVOID BUYING FROM US AT ALL COSTS MATE, thats my advice any way!

yeh avoid buying from the US, the humans over there arent generally as good as here in the UK... the parts inside are normally all wrong and taken from Ex-office chairs :(
