Mouse + Keyboard

  Z4
Anyone got any recommendations?
After something that looks classy and is also functional.
Also really would like usb ports in the keyboard.
I like the apple keyboard but I'm assuming it only works on macs?

Do you play many games? If you do then I recommend the Logitech G5 mouse. It's wired and has no matching keyboard, but it is a very good mouse. Logitech diNovo is a good combo package if you want style :)

I have the Microsoft Reclusa keyboard and the Habu mouse.

Both decent.

The keyboard is solid as a rock andd has a nice blue glow under the keys along with multimedia controls.

The Habu mouse is actually a Razer mouse repackaged in MS packaging. 5 button, glows blue, 2000dpi, so great for gaming.

I use a pen and tablet instead of a mouse. I imagine it's crap for games, but for photoshop and navigating any other programs it can't be beaten imo. Think it cost about £60, looks smart too.

Just now bought myself an apple keyboard, was pretty cheap and is just the ticket!

Perfect for what I use it for, I'm not fussed about gaming etc.

The side usb ports are ace :D

the only thing i don't like about the apple keyboard is that the i pod doesn't seem to work with it! Says its too powerful or something.
any ideas?

just a question, you specified you want a USB keyboard, any particular reason? It's just you can't plug anything else into the PS2 slots apart from keys/mouse, so it makes sense not to use up a USB slot when you could avoid it.

But I'm sure you have a reason if you specified it.

If you're into games then it's fair enough spending out on a decent mouse and keyboard - it can make all the difference.

But if it's for general PC use, then there is a point where the extra expense just doesn't justify the added quality /functionality.

I'm putting together a system at the moment and my budget keyboard and mouse combination of choice is:

NEVER! :D I always buy the best keyboard and mouse combination I can afford, if you think about it, these are the bits you'll be using all of the time, better to pay twice the money now, rather than replacing them every 6 months.

Das keyboard. Oh ye !

I was just taking a look at Das Keyboard, I quite like the sound of that one. One of my favourite keyboard ever was an old school Dell clicky key keyboard. Problem was it weighed about 2 1/2 tons, but you could threaten to beat users to death with it. :D

from the Das Keyboard FAQ:
Das Keyboard allows up to 12 keys to be pressed simultaneously. Great for fast typists and gamers alike.

12 keys? Hmm, this makes me wonder how many fingers the designers have :)

I've never had to replace a broken mouse or keyboard.

And, even if that was the case, I'd rather buy a new £10 keyboard every 12 months than try and kid myself that I'll actually keep a £50 keyboard for 5 years without getting bored and fancy something else after a couple years...

As I say, if it's for proper gaming then fair-do's, but for browsing the internet, office work, wiping man-juice out of the gaps... no need in my opinion.

why is it so good?
I'm not into gaming etc

4000dpi, 9 programmable buttons and onboard memory to save 5 gaming profiles.

Your average off the shelf mouse has 800dpi and would feel rather sluggish after using a much higher dpi mouse.

4000dpi is soo pointless. It's all a bit gimmicky as far as i'm concerned, running at higher dpi just basically means it moves quicker across the screen!!

i have a logitechs g5 and a g15, which i'm fond of, keep them both at standard settings, don't really use the extra keyboard functionality much. Just like it for the backlikghting and the info display at the top

In games you want to be able to move fast though! Mine is 2000dpi lazer, I came from an 800dpi optical and the difference is huge.

Just opened and started using my TRUST DS-3400D. Very Nice, and great value too. Top piece of kit.

thats the one i got :approve:

it is fricking amazing!!

being able to change the DPI on-the-fly is dam useful.

What they both said mate, highly versatile with the Profiles can have one for each application you use and the 4000Dpi can be selected from way down at 1500Dpi just so you get it right for your style of work/play

Unless you game though imo you will not see the benifits of 4000Dpi !
