hi ben,as you know im after throttle bodies for my 172 sport prima racing do them i think,do you know of then do they come recomended

Throttle bodies nowadays follow a generic DCOE flange. Which means any car you can run weber DCOEs on you can run throttlebodies which have the same mounting flange.

So, in essence, all TBs are the same....theya re NOT specific to a car, it is the inlet MANIFOLD which is specific to the engine. So, you can go anywhere that makes throttle bodies, and there are hundreds of companies who do, and get a set off them....get the appropriate inlet manifold and install it. Onlything then is to get it mapped.

In my opinion, if Prima were as good as they say, there would be people raving over them, they would feature in mags, and havea good rep. Incidentally the dont. I would not purchase anything off them as they are expensive and not the most curtious of people.

If i were getting TBs on the 172, i would go for as small a throttle plate assebly as possible simply as this will alloy you to play with trumpet length and move the air filter base further back from the radiator.

Jenvey make a HUGE HUGE selection of TBs to accomodate for every application. Most people use them because they supply almost everybody...they really are a one stop shop for TB and associated parts.

Then, get an ECU, hook it all up and get it mapped, away you go. ok, a bit more involving but you get the jist.

Alternatively, go to somewhere like northampton motorsport with the correct inlet manifold and for 2000 they will install a weber DCOE flange TB set and weber alpha management. Then for another 400 or so they wil map it. same goes for southern carburators and injection.
