It slid down a hill!! I went to Brands Hatch yesterday, it was really muddy and slippery in the car park because of the weather, and loads of cars were getting stuck, and losing control and crashing etc. When I got into mine as we were about to leave, we sat there for a second, not driving, had the engine running but handbrake on etc. But were I was parked on a steep muddy hill, all of a sudden, I just started sliding forward!! The extra weight in the car must of just made it lose it! There was absolutely nothing I could have done to stop it and i ended up crashing in to the 2 cars infront of me. It made quite an impact when it hit, as it was a fair distance i slid, and was expecting to get out to a mangled wreck!! I now have a crack in my front bumper, and it has popped out on the drivers side! Also something has cracked inside my headhamp so I need a whole new unit. The quote i got was £1,103.45!! So now i have to lose 3 years no claims for something i had no control over, and all i was doing was sitting in the car, not even attempting to drive!! I am sooo pissed off, I have only had the car 12 days, i'm really not having much luck!! And there was no damage to the other cars!!

it was tretcherous enough on foot in the car parks, i was dreading moving mine incase it got stuck!! fortunately we got out ok...looks like many didn't!

Yep, you can only protect your no claims if you have 4+ no claims.

Try and avoid paying for it through insurance. Get the parts when ya can afford them. Is the car all still driveable and legal? Sorry if I am being cheap on getting it fixed straight away but loosing no claims surely is worse.

Yeah i think i have pretty much decided against claiming now, after paying my £400 excess, then the extortionate (sp) amount my insurance will go up by (about £4-500 -just got quotes), i think i'll just get it done myself! I will try pm'ing j3ned then, or does anyone know where i can at least get a cheapish new headlamp from??

Yes the car is still all legal and drivable, it's just so sad seeing her like that, poor lil thing :-(

Total pisser, really sorry to hear about this. I know I'd be totally gutted and left feeling like the car would never be the same again. But it WILL. In a few months you'll look back and laugh because your car will be f**king mint still. Look on is it just a minor set back. Gutted about the NCB protector though - I'm glad I play a small premium to protect mine (sorry that didnt help you)

It shouldn't be that much though depends how much can be fixed instead of being replaced.

Thanks everyone, no there was no damage to the other cars luckily, went down to Renault this morning to get another quote, they said the bumper can be fixed, its not too bad, i just need a new headlamp unit, so should be alot cheaper than the other quote. Will try to get the unit myself though, dont want to pay full Renault price if i dont have to!

Bad, bad news - that must be awful to actually witness, realising you can do sod all to stop it.

I did have my previous car on some ice on the road a few years back. Just sat still in traffic, it starting sliding backwards - not quickly, but it picked up momentum. Luckily the cars in front started to move and I got it rolling from a 2nd gear start. I couldn't have been far from the car behind, mind....

Was considering writing a letter or complaining, but as Pete says, I doubt they will accept any responsibility as parkings at your own risk and its on private land. Might write and complain anyway though, even if i wont get anywhere!!

my baby got hurt 2 @ 4:45 this morning the lady who lives accroos from me rings my door bell to to me she is sorry but she has just drove in to the side of my car as you can imagine i wasnt impresed,so i got all her details and went back in had work @ 7 had to come home @ 1 and lost half days money, and to top it all theres f*$k all wrong with her car so now ive got to put up with a crappy loan car tiil mine is fixed how wrong is that?
