My boot wont open from the outside....

  Clio 1.8 8v RSi
Hello, have had the problem all day, iv only owned my car about 2 weeks and only today opened the boot for the very first time....but it wont open? I found a thread ages ago that said fold down the rear seats and push the button to relise it...So iv done that but still, it wont open from the outside with my key? All it does is push in about 2mm and thats it! Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sam

Sounds like the solenoids knackered mate, which isn't moving the rod, which isn't letting you press the button in fully to open it. When you plip the key can you hear the solenoid clicking? If it is the rod might have just fallen off.

If you can't hear it working, strip the tailgate trim - a few T20s, and with a multimeter see if your getting 12V to the solenoid, if you are, its knackered.
