My knob is cold in the morning !

anyone else have this problem in the mk 2 ph 1 172's ? iv got up for work really early in the morning these last few days and went to put the car in gear and these aluminium gear sticks are bloody freezing !! gonna put a bloody sock on it everynight lol !!!
