what projector are you using?

i got one recently, an optoma hd700x, it runs at 720p, and it is truely one of the best purchases i have ever made, i get so much use out of it and through work i can get the bulbs for £68 plus vat each, so i don't worry about how much time i use it for.

if anyone is on the verge of getting an HD projector but can't make the decision i really would urge you to do it, the whole gaming/movie experience is awesome. for £400 you can't get a decent BIG lcd, but yet something like an HD65 or HD700X is amazing.

its a sanyo plc-sl15 its got a wide angle lens on it the pics above are on the smallest zoom setting. Runs at 1080i no problem at all. my mate has the hd65 and that is amazing quality but the screen size is no where near as big

Wow, looks massive. I've wanted to do it, but not sure on the quality of one.

I'm using a 50" Samsung Plasma at the mo, what's the actual quality like for a projector?

Nice Setup!

I'm taking my PS3 to work during the School Holidays (It's a private school & has 2 weeks instead of 1)

I'm gonna hook it up to this beast that we had fitted last week http://www.projectorcentral.com/EIKI-LC-W5.htm . The screen alone weighs 14 stone!

The seats are pretty clever too, they are motorized and fold away in a pile at the back at a flip of a switch.

if you get a decent projector then you will never want to play games on a normal size lcd ever again!

i have a 47" toshiba lcd and before i got the projector i thought my tv was pretty good for gaming, all my mates would come round and be impressed by a 47" screen. the projector is on a whole new level.

take a look at the optoma hd700x and hd65, they are considered to be 2 of the best projectors for HD movies and gaming at their price point. if you are on a tight budget you can use a 2m across ikea white blind to project onto if you don't have a decent white wall. if you look at places like play.com they normally do deals with the projector and a screen bundled together.

my next purchase will be a motorised screen for mine as i am limited by where i'm projecting onto at the moment, i can take my projector further back to get a bigger image but my current screen i project onto is only 84".

i've got two 1080p 52" LCD's - A Philips and a Sony - Really wish I'd altered the cinema room and put a projector in - the guy down the roads looks superb.

HD projectors any good?

Always had the thought that projectors are very faint and slow? Always wondered how good HD projectors are.

My projector is only 2.5 meters away from the screen and still gives me 108"! short throw projectors ftw :)

They always look better in a darker room but still well worth a purchase, you wont be dissapointed

An old friend of my dad's has an awesome cinema room.

When we were over there a couple of months ago he said did we want to take a look, thinking it'd just be a room with a big telly, possibly projector, and a comfy sofa.

It was decked out like a proper cinema, and as well as having a 'normal' dlp type projecter he also had a shed load of huge fully working old cinema projectors. One in particular was absoluely huge, he gets them off ebay and from cinemas and restores them, they look absoultely stunning. I know he gets trailer reels from the local cinemas when they are done with them, and had a stack of films as well.
