My poor 1.2 extreme -

Had an accident this evening, cannot believe it, going 40 on a country road and i did not realise it was a double bend, i lost control on the second bend as the back end went out, the car flipped over onto its roof the back over again into the hedge. Windscreen smashed as well as other items :(

Sorry to hear it, but the good thing is that you walked away with any serious injury.

Got any photos?

Will try and upload some pictures shortly,

What do you suggest i do, funds are none existent, but i am not getting anything but another Clio when i can. The car looks like its not worth repairing, every part is scratched and marked, its leaning to one side so looks like the main frame is damaged anyway. The engine is fine though, starts up, well did but the battery became flat when we was getting it out with the lights on.

Not much to salvage off of it really, the back end looks fine.

The accident: Me and a friend in the car, we both got out fine, police came over and paramedics checked us over, fine. I don't want to claim on the insurance, im only 18 and only have third party fire & theft at 2k for the year. I got a message from the 'friend' that she went to hospital and is going to claim for whiplash! What type of a friend does that, there is nothing i can do if she claims, but it is going to mess me up for getting insurance next year :(

You can't claim on your insurance anyway as you are third party fire and theft so they will not pay out for your car. They will only pay out to third party's that have been hurt/damaged in the accident.

Unlucky mate, just shows how easy it is for something like this to happen

Tbh, that is what insurance is there for so that if you do have an accident, then people like your friend can be sorted out financially etc. Just unfortunate that it will now affect your premiums for the next 5 years.

Best bet is to strip your car for parts and try and get as much cash back for it as possible and get yourself back on the road again soon.

Unlucky mate, sure you have learned a big lesson anyway, as have I in the past

f**k it mate its only car/insurance all that matters is that you are OK! don't put it against her for claiming you have to understand where she is also coming from! it may not be her decision but her parents pushing her etc! just be thankful no one was seriously injured good luck in the future!

All true, we were both fine which is the best thing. The thing that gets me is, i know she is fine, it is her parents pushing her. Nothing wrong, having partys this weekend, going swimming, drinking. A friendship that wont be missed if she does claim. Never mind though.

I had a similar (Albeit much bigger!) accident and a friend tried to fraudulantly claim for whiplash.

A knock on his door with a threat of physical violence soon put a stop to that! If they're injured, fair enough, but making a claim for the sake of it is a bad bad thing I think.

At least you're ok mate.

Thats a shitter mate, glad noone was seriously hurt though.

if she has whiplash, is there not a good chance yu have it too? ;)

not sure if you can claim, but if you can, it could be a handy payout in the circumstances.

becasue the claim is for the injury, not for how it was caused. Same as how you can still claim for your car if you cause the accident.

not sure if its possible on tpf&t though

TPF&T is just that, it will pay out for third party's, and your car only if it has been on fire, or has been stolen. If you crash it then they won't pay out for your car or your injuries but will pay for any damage you cause to other people/objects

I have personal injury cover on my policy so maybe make some use of it. I have searched the net for breaking clio's around me such as engine blown and so on but nothing useful, looks like i am going to give up on driving for a while :(

Been looking at insurance companies, compare the market for comparison and Admiral who i am with and when you go to the claims section there is nothing about whiplash for the claim that has been made (well, will have been made by my friend when i do plan to get insurance when i get a new car)?
